More Blackberries

I wanted to get more blackberries, Dearest says there are none left. Some how I managed to get her down there with both dogs. We ended up getting lots of blackberries.

Lots of Squash

Apparently, I have neglected my duties with the kiddy pool. The one squash plant, which has pretty much provided all the squash, is loaded. I was a little shocked. I quickly grabbed my knife to get to clear out all of the squash. I would like to say that the kiddy pool was a great idea. Planting the squash by the edge has resulted in all of the squash hanging over the edge, but not enough that it touches the ground; resulting in very little to clean.

New Garden Squash

We got our first squash from the new garden at the new house. We are going to have lots more crooked-neck squash. It might not be fancy, but apparently we are really good at growing squash.

Things to get into...

I was waiting for Dearest to get home tonight. I decided I would go blackberry picking with the one of the dogs. I rarely take the two dogs because they listen less when they are together. Well, Mully found out that he loves blackberries. The two of us spent 20 min and picked enough blackberries for a freezer container. I washed the berries and let them sit to dry.

Since I was still waiting on Dearest, I tried to find something else to do. I headed back outside and noticed that the Oregano has really gone wild. I grabbed my cutters and went to town. I think I may have cut it back a little too much though. I set the leaves out to dry and continued trying to find more treasures. Happily I found some crooked neck squash in the kiddy pool.

Our Basket

We went out into the potted garden at the old house. There was some squash, a few tomatoes, lots of lettuce, and a few blueberrys. We ended up having fresh salad for dinner, and then a smaller side salad to go with supper. (The blueberries didn't last much longer than this picture).

Veggies

Today, the potted garden was doing well. The peas are finally giving some peas. I got a few Bluecrop blueberries from the little bush (Dearest ate them).

I also made a trip down to the pool to check on the squash and corn. Now for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of knowning true mobile living. Try farming in a plastic $9.99 kiddy pool from Wally World. I'm telling you, we are right up town. Although, if you fill that pool up with horse manure... the veggies go wild.

  • 1 oz. Blueberries
  • 1 lb. Squash

Last of the Cherries.

As I drove up the road to my house there wasn't a single cheery left. I presume the birds had a good meal on the cheeries I couldn't reach. Looking over the potted garden, I did notice that the blackberries and blueberries are looking good.

Cherry Run

The last few days have been rather wet. I am actually glad that it has been raining this morning. I noticed the remainder of the cherries are ready. Even a few birds have been flying to the tree to get a snack. I made it home soon enough that the birds hadn't completely eaten the cherries. I grabbed a bucket and Dearest grabbed her bucket. We even took the dogs with us. They enjoyed sitting in the back of the truck eating cherries that would fall. We didn't get as many cherries this time, but still plenty to can.
